What Finitizer does

Finitizer connects read-only to your AWS and Google Cloud accounts, finds the specific things costing you money, and turns each one into work somebody can finish.

Finitizer is a cloud cost optimization platform for AWS, Google Cloud and BigQuery.

Most cost tools answer the question "what did we spend?". That question is already answered by your bill. The harder question, the one that actually recovers money, is "which specific resource is wasting it, how much, and what exactly do I change?" — and answering that requires looking at usage, configuration and utilisation together, per resource, per service.

That is what this platform does. It reads your accounts, names the waste, prices it, proposes the change, and then follows that change through to a saving you can point at.

The loop

1. Read

Finitizer connects read-only. It collects usage, configuration and utilisation metrics from your AWS accounts and Google Cloud projects, and query and storage telemetry from BigQuery.

Nothing is modified. No agent is installed on your workloads. There is no sidecar, no daemon, and no code deployed into your runtime.

2. Find

Over 120 finders run across 30+ AWS services, Google Cloud, and BigQuery. A finder is deliberately narrow: it looks for one specific, named form of waste, and it knows what evidence would prove it.

Some examples of what that means in practice:

  • an EC2 instance whose CPU, network and disk activity have all been flat for weeks — idle, not merely quiet
  • a gp2 volume that would cost less and perform better as gp3
  • a NAT gateway processing traffic that never needed to leave the VPC
  • an ElastiCache cluster provisioned for a peak that has not occurred this quarter
  • a BigQuery query pattern that scans a full table every run because it filters on an unpartitioned column

Alongside the finders, 260+ insight queries answer the follow-up questions each finding raises: who owns this, what else looks like it, and what did it cost last month.

3. Decide

Every finding carries three things: an estimated saving, the evidence behind it, and the exact change proposed.

You decide. Finitizer does not change your infrastructure. It proposes, and a human approves — that separation is deliberate, and it is what makes the platform safe to point at production.

4. Fix

An approved finding becomes real work in the systems your team already uses:

  • a Jira ticket, with the evidence and the proposed change in the body
  • a pull request against your infrastructure code, when the fix is expressible as Terraform

The platform then tracks each one to completion and measures the saving that actually landed, rather than the one that was estimated.

What this is worth

Industry estimates put wasted spend at 30–40% of a typical cloud bill. A typical Finitizer engagement reduces spend by 20–40%.

Both of those are ranges for a reason. The number you get depends on how much headroom is genuinely there, and the first analysis is what establishes that. It is free, and it runs against your own account rather than a benchmark.

What it is not

Being precise about the boundaries is more useful than being enthusiastic about the capabilities:

  • It is not an autoscaler or a remediation bot. Changes are proposed and approved, never applied automatically.
  • It is not an agent you install. Access is read-only and API-based.
  • It is not a dashboard product. Dashboards are how you look at the findings; the findings are the product.
